How to purge the paging file at Shutdown

The Windows NT Paging File can retain Password and Profile information therefore being a security risk. Not to mention the possibility of retaining that leaky app.

So here is how to purge the file at Shutdown.

If you dont know how to do stuff in the registry dont mess with it.

Run the Registry Editor - Regedt32.exe
Go to hkey_local_machinc-System-CurrentContrlSet-Control-Session Manager-Memory Management Key
If the Value does not exist add the key
Value Name: ClearPageFileAtShutdown
Value Type: Reg_dword
Change the value from 0 to 1 if it exists already if not put in the number one under data.

Now everytime your server is shutdown for any reason the paging file will be cleared.

Note: This dramatically increases the time it takes to shutdown your server and length of time is directly related to how big your paging file is.
